7-Day Victoria Falls & Chobe Safari
The journey, properly paced
Seven days, three countries, and two of Southern Africa's most iconic landscapes - Victoria Falls and Chobe National Park. You begin on the Zambezi at sunset, watching hippos surface and elephants move along the riverbanks as the light fades. The next day, you cross into Zambia for a closer, more dramatic view of Victoria Falls, followed by tracking white rhino on foot in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park - one of the few places in the region where this is possible. From there, the focus shifts to Chobe. Three full days in the park give you time to explore properly - early morning game drives, afternoons on the river, and large elephant herds gathering along the water's edge. This is one of Africa's most wildlife-dense areas, and the river safaris are often the highlight. The final day returns to Victoria Falls from the Zimbabwe side, with its wide viewpoints and rainforest walk. For many travellers, the helicopter flight becomes the highlight of the trip - a short but unforgettable way to see the full scale of Victoria Falls and the Batoka Gorge before heading into your final evening.

Arrival in Victoria Falls – Zambezi Sunset Cruise
You arrive in Victoria Falls and are met for the short transfer to your hotel. The rest of the afternoon is left open to settle in after your journey. Later in the day, you head out onto the Zambezi River for a sunset cruise. This is one of the most established experiences in Victoria Falls — a relaxed way to start the trip, with wildlife often visible along the riverbanks and drinks served on board as the sun drops. It’s an easy introduction to the region before the pace picks up the following day, when you cross into Zambia.
Zambia – Falls Tour, Rhino Safari & Simunye Cultural Evening
You cross into Zambia in the morning for a guided tour of Victoria Falls from the Zambian side. This side brings you closer to the water — the Knife Edge Bridge and Eastern Cataract offer a more direct, powerful view than the wider panoramas from Zimbabwe. In the afternoon, you head into Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park for a white rhino tracking experience on foot. Accompanied by a guide, you move through the park at a steady pace, following tracks and locating the animals at close range. It’s one of the few places in Southern Africa where this is possible. During the low-water season (September to December), Devil's Pool can be added as an optional experience at the edge of the falls. On the return to Zimbabwe, there is a short stop at the Victoria Falls Bridge for views over the gorge. The day ends at Simunye – Spirit of Africa, an evening theatre production combining live drumming, singing, and choreography in a purpose-built venue in Victoria Falls.
Three Days in Chobe National Park, Botswana
You transfer to Kasane in Botswana, with a stop at the Kazungula Bridge for a short tour and views over the Zambezi River. The journey takes around 90 minutes from Victoria Falls. You spend the next three days in Chobe National Park, focusing on both land and river-based game viewing. Mornings are spent on game drives, when wildlife is most active. Afternoons shift to the Chobe River, where boat safaris offer a different perspective and close-range sightings along the water. Chobe is known for its high concentration of animals, particularly along the riverfront. Large elephant herds are common, along with buffalo, giraffe, and predators moving through the area. The combination of game drives and river safaris gives you access to different habitats and a broader range of sightings. Three days here allows you to return to different areas at different times of day, rather than relying on a single visit to the park.
Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) – Falls Tour, Helicopter & Evening at the Boma
You return to Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwe side for a guided walking tour of the falls. This side offers the widest viewpoints and the full rainforest walk, with clear views across the Main Falls, Devil’s Cataract, and the gorge below. The helicopter flight takes place in the morning if included. From the air, you see the full width of Victoria Falls and the Batoka Gorge — a perspective that isn’t possible from the ground and one that changes how you understand the scale of the falls. The helicopter is optional and should be booked in advance, as availability is limited. Later in the day, you head to the Lookout Café, set above the Batoka Gorge, for time to sit and take in the view before the evening. Your final night is at the Boma Dinner & Drum Show. The experience combines traditional Zimbabwean food, live drumming, and performance in an open-air setting — a lively way to end the trip.
Departure
Morning at leisure. Depending on your flight time, there may be time for a final walk along the river or a last breakfast with the sound of the falls in the background before your transfer to Victoria Falls Airport. Your driver will collect you from the hotel and transfer you to the airport for your onward journey.

Safari Adventure FAQ
Practical answers before you plan the journey.
The two sides offer genuinely different experiences of the same waterfall. The Zimbabwe side has the wider panoramic views, the better rainforest walk, and the classic Main Falls viewpoints. The Zambian side puts you much closer to the water — the Knife Edge Bridge and Eastern Cataract are more intimate and significantly wetter. Doing both in a single trip gives you a complete picture of one of the world's most extraordinary natural phenomena.
The rhino tracking experience in Mosi-oa-Tunya involves walking on relatively flat terrain at a slow, quiet pace. It is not physically demanding and is suitable for most travellers. The emphasis is on stillness and patience rather than distance or speed. Children and older travellers participate regularly. Your guide will brief the group fully before you set out.
A single day in Chobe gives you a solid game drive and river cruise, but it's still a day-trip mentality — you're watching the clock. Three days lets you settle into the rhythm of the bush properly. You explore different areas of the park, cover both morning and afternoon activity windows on multiple occasions, and build up a picture of the wildlife rather than grabbing highlights. For anyone serious about wildlife, three days is the minimum worth doing.
Devil's Pool — the natural infinity pool at the very edge of Victoria Falls — is accessible roughly from September through December when the Zambezi is low enough to form a stable pool. If you're travelling in that window, it's worth adding. You swim to the edge of one of the world's great waterfalls. It's difficult to describe and easier to just do. We'll confirm availability and suitability based on your travel dates.
Yes — the helicopter fills quickly, particularly in peak season (July to October). We strongly recommend booking your slot before arrival rather than hoping for availability on the day. We handle this as part of your itinerary planning so there are no last-minute disappointments on Day 6.
Visa requirements depend on your nationality and travel route. The KAZA Univisa covers eligible travel between Zimbabwe and Zambia, plus same-day Botswana trips through Kazungula. Because this itinerary includes nights in Botswana, Botswana entry and Zimbabwe re-entry requirements must be checked separately. We will confirm the requirements for your passport during planning.
Yes. Common extensions include additional nights in Chobe, a fly-in to the Okavango Delta, or time in Hwange National Park on the Zimbabwe side. The itinerary can also be adjusted — fewer Chobe nights and more Victoria Falls time, or vice versa — depending on your priorities. Everything is built around what you actually want from the trip.
