Tour Overview
The Victoria Falls Jetboat Adventure is a high-adrenaline ride through the Batoka Gorge below Victoria Falls. A purpose-built 465 horsepower jetboat takes you across fast-moving Zambezi water, through spray, and toward the Boiling Pot for a river-level encounter with the Falls.
The full experience takes about 2 hours 30 minutes, with approximately 35-45 minutes on the water. Pickup from Victoria Falls hotels is included, and every guest receives a helmet, life jacket, safety briefing, and support from trained guides and expert jetboat captains.
This activity includes a steep walk into and out of the gorge, with uneven ground and stairways. It is best for travellers who want an active water adventure and are comfortable with a physical approach before the ride.

White Water Jetboat Adventure Below Victoria Falls
This Victoria Falls jetboat experience takes you deep into the Batoka Gorge for one of the most exciting ways to feel the force of the Zambezi River. After pickup in Victoria Falls, guides lead you down a steep gorge route to the launch area, where helmets and life jackets are provided before boarding the custom 465 hp adventure jetboat.
Once on the water, your captain powers through the rapids and toward the Boiling Pot below Victoria Falls, where the spray, cliffs and river energy make the Falls feel close and immediate. The ride then continues through the gorge with fast turns, surges and river-level views that are impossible from the rainforest paths above.
This is a physical adventure as well as a water activity. Guests need enough mobility and fitness for steep steps and uneven ground into and out of the gorge, but guides allow time and assist along the way.
Dress code: wear comfortable casual clothes and secure shoes that can get wet. Avoid smart outfits, loose sandals, heavy denim, and anything you would not want splashed during the ride or dusty on the gorge hike.
Important Fitness and Safety Notes
Steep gorge hike
The route includes steep steps, uneven ground, and a climb back out of Batoka Gorge. A reasonable level of fitness and mobility is required.
Age and group size
Guests must be at least 10 years old and fit the smallest life jacket. The boat runs with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 12 passengers.
Health restrictions
This activity is not suitable for guests with heart conditions, epilepsy, knee or hip replacements, severe vertigo, or serious mobility difficulties.
Seasonal operation
The jetboat is usually out of operation during April and May at high water, and may pause for about 30 days during very low water in October and November.
Is the Victoria Falls Jetboat Worth It?
The jetboat is worth it if you want a short, intense adventure that gets you down to river level inside Batoka Gorge. It is very different from viewing the Falls from the rainforest paths: you feel the spray, the speed of the Zambezi, and the scale of the gorge from below.
Best for a fast adrenaline hit
Choose jetboating if you want speed, spray, tight turns, and a dramatic gorge setting without committing to a full rafting day.
Easy to fit into a Victoria Falls stay
The full activity takes about 2.5 hours, so it can pair well with a guided Falls tour, sunset cruise, Boma dinner, or helicopter flight on the same day.
Not ideal for limited mobility
The gorge access is part of the experience. If steep steps, uneven ground, or the climb out sound uncomfortable, a helicopter ride or sunset cruise will usually be a better fit.

Jetboat vs White Water Rafting
Both activities take place around the Zambezi and Batoka Gorge, but they suit different travellers. Jetboating is shorter, powered, and focused on speed. Rafting is longer, more hands-on, and usually more physically demanding.
